MBC Youth participated in Impact Virginia July 21-27. The one-week construction mission opportunity focused on home repair and renovation for those in great need on the Eastern Shore. With all the coverage of damage further north, many people are unaware how much damage Hurricane Sandy did on the northern part of Virginia’s eastern shore. There were several houses whose first floors were entirely under water, and the people are unable to do the proper clean out because they don’t have the money to replace what has to be torn out. Through Impact, the youth were able to make a real difference there by providing a service the people couldn’t otherwise afford. The theme for Impact was “Rebuild,” with a focus on 2 Corinthians 5:17: “If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come!”
